I have been a recipient of several government awards instituted by Zee and Star such as, Star Ananya Samman with Anna Hazare, Zee Gaurav 2007, single award meant for the high and the mighty; Zee Ananya Samman with Dr. Lahane and Prakash Amte. Along with these my films Taare Zameen Par and Stanley ka Dabba have also won numerous prestigious accolades. The National Film Awards, Filmfare Awards, Star Screen Awards, etc. and Taare Zameen Par was also the official submission to the 81st Academy Awards from India.

My films have been a reflection of my involvement as a volunteer for child-rights in the physically, mentally, financially and socially challenged sector. I have always dreamt up inspirational material to motivate the adult population to re-look at their views regarding children.
